The longtime Bucktown Revue has rebranded itself the Bucktown Americana Music Show, and has a special pre-season concert scheduled this Friday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. At its traditional home at Davenport Junior Theatre (2822 Eastern Ave.), the monthly show (which is typically the third Friday from September to May) will feature an enchanting folk/Americana trio, The Wildwoods, from Lincoln, Neb. The Wildwoods’ delicate melodies and descriptive lyrics come from nature, love, experiences from the road, and growing up in Nebraska, according to a band press release.

In 2005, director Greg McLean made a huge splash at the box office with his bone-chillingly “true story” horror film Wolf Creek. The direction and cinematography of the movie were considered revolutionary at that time.  The flick was advertised as “inspired by true events.” Over the years, the original film has gained cult status among slasher genre fans.  It has since been turned into a trilogy, with Wolf Creek 2 released in 2013 and Wolf Creek 3 eyeing a debut in early 2022.

Loved by the judges and adored by fans for her quirky and ditzy demeanor, it was surprising that the then 19-year-old Kellie Pickler did not win the fifth season of American Idol in 2005. The City of Bettendorf is looking for nominees for their 2023 4th of July parade grand marshal. The parade will be held on Tuesday, July 4, starting at 10 a.m. Nominees must have made significant contributions to the quality of life in the city.
